The San Francisco Giants are coming with the assist in a team-up with the Department of Public Health where two free game tickets will soon be given to individuals who get vaccinated at one of 15 sites across The City.

Starting Friday, the select sites, including the Moscone Center and several neighborhood vaccination clinics, will hand out vouchers that can be used for two free Giants tickets good for games between July and September. The vouchers will be given on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last. There are no residency requirements to be eligible.

Giants President and CEO Larry Baer said in a statement:

“We hope we can entice them with the opportunity to attend a game at Oracle Park and a return to more normal times while prioritizing their health.”

The effort is part of Major League Baseball’s Vaccinate at the Plate campaign aimed at increasing nationwide vaccination rates. The City is one of the nation’s leading major metropolitan cities in terms of vaccination rates, with 81 percent of its residents over the age of 12 at least partially vaccinated and 72 percent fully vaccinated, according to the Department of Public Health.

Mayor London Breed said in a statement:

“While we’re proud to have been the first major city in the country to administer at least one dose to 80% of our eligible residents, we’re not going to slow down our efforts to reach each and every San Franciscan.”

Department of Public Health Director Dr. Grant Colfax said to the Health Commission last Tuesday:

“The remaining population that remains unvaccinated, we’re continuing work in the community, going door to door, working with trusted community leaders and other stakeholders to ensure people have access to the vaccine and have the information that they need to make a decision on whether to get a vaccine.”

Colfax told the commission that less than 1,000 people per day are currently receiving first doses citywide. Officials hope to see those numbers go up with Incentives like Giants tickets.
